31 Aug-2018

In the second quarter of this year, India imported around 360,000 tons of steel products from China, a remarkable growth of 67% compared with the same period of last year.

Meanwhile, India also imported more steel products from Japan and South Korea. From Japan, India imported 370,000 tons of steel products, an increase of 47% year on year, while the imports from South Korea were 750,000 tons roughly, a rise of 35% year on year.

In March of this year, the US government decided to levy 25% tariff on imported steel products from China, Japan, South Korea, India and other countries, which made the referred countries turn their steel export destination to India.
