ISSF: Global stainless steel consumption expected to rise in 2019 & 2020

According to the forecast released by the International Stainless Steel Forum (ISSF), the global stainless steel consumption growth rate was cut to 2.4% in 2019 from 4.8% in 2018. 

Among them, the consumption growth rate of cold-rolled stainless steel sheet decreased to 2.9% from 2018’s 5.0%; that of hot-rolled stainless steel plate was lowered to 2.7% from the previous year’s 4.6%; that of stainless steel long products was down to 0% from 4.1% of last year; that of stainless steel semi-finished long products dropped to -0.3% from 2018’s 4.3%. 

In addition, the global stainless steel consumption growth rate in 2020 was expected to rise to 4.4%.
